LOVE OUR NEIGHBORHOODS

HOME

I want to build, create, install a:

PLANTER

Got a green thumb but not enough space in your backyard to make use of it? Now, you can show off your gardening skills in front of your house by tending your very own sidewalk planter. You will also be making your neighborhood a more vibrant and beautiful environment in the process.

Planters are considered Tier 1 Love Our Neighborhoods projects and require the following steps for registration.

Step One: Check if you are eligible

  • You must be a private property owner registering a planter for your own property. If you are a commercial or residential tenant, you must obtain approval from the property owner and submit an authorized agent form with your application.

  • Your planter must have a closed bottom and fall under Love Our Neighborhoods Regulations.

  • If you want to put plants directly in the sidewalk, as opposed to an enclosed above-ground container, you must apply for a sidewalk landscaping permit instead of registering for a Love Our Neighborhoods project. You do not need neighbors' approval to install a planter in front of your property.

  • Make sure the sidewalk can safely accommodate your planter.  Please refer to our guidelines.

Step Two: Get your documents together

We will ask for:

  • Your name and contact information.

  • Your project’s location.

  • A description of your project.

You will need to upload:

  • An image of your proposed site prior to installation of your project.

  • An image of your project after installation.

    • Images should show 10 feet in every direction from the project installation. Nearby structures should be clearly visible as well as the curb, if applicable.

  • Your authorized agent form, if applicable.

Step Three: Start your registration

This will take about 10 to 15 minutes.

After you submit your form, you will get an email confirmation. We will contact you about next steps.
